Attarat Oil Shale Fired Power Plant
The Attarat Oil Shale Fired Power Plant is Jordan’s first and only oil shale-fired power station and the largest private investment project in the Kingdom (valued at $2.1 billion). It consists of two 235MW net generating units utilizing Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFB) technology to produce clean, reliable baseload electricity.
- Back-Energization: Successfully completed on 6 September 2019
- CFB Boilers: Sumitomo SHI FW, designed and supplied specifically to operate cleanly under low temperatures with low SOx and NOx formation
- Turbine & Generator: Siemens AG, supplied High-efficiency subcritical steam turbines and generators.
- Unit 1 Commercial Operations (COD): Declared on 25 October 2022
- Unit 2 Commercial Operations (COD): Declared on 26 May 2023, marking full plant completion
