Conventional Open Pit Mining with cumulative overburden removed >100 m bcm.
Supplying 10-11 m tpa of Oil Shale to the Power Plant.
- First Extraction of Oil Shale: Achieved in April 2019 to begin stockpiling fuel for commissioning.
- Mine Completion / COD: Declared on 26 May 2023, along with Unit 2.
- Scale: An extensive 37 km² concession area containing abundant oil shale under an average of approximately 60 metres of overburden.
- Overburden Management: More than 100 million Bank Cubic Metres (BCM) of cumulative overburden have been removed to access the deep oil shale seams.
- Laboratory Accreditation: The on-site oil shale testing laboratory has been accredited under the international standard ISO/IEC 17025 for testing competence, confirming our commitment to analytical operations in accordance with global standards.
